Who Am I?
My full name is Danny Charles Dunford Jr. Everyone calls me Deege. That nickname came about because I am Danny Jr., so that would be "D.J." as an acronym. It is easier to say Deege than it is to pronounce both letters as their own syllables, so I am called Deege. I have a very sarcastic personality. A lot of the time, people cannot tell the difference between when I am serious and when I am joking, so I think that I scare a lot of people away sometimes. Most people who know me well enough, can usually distinguish between my seriousness and joking type of behavior. I always like to joke around with family and friends, and maybe it gets old, but it is the way I act, so they will just have to live with it. I like to live my life one day at a time, and I do not care for planning ahead very far; I am a very big procrastinator. I graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 2001, and I went to the Mansfield branch of Ohio State University for two years, with an undecided major.
The thing that I love most in this world is music. I love all forms of music, but rap and dance music are just not my thing. I prefer the music that I listen to to be made with your hands and heart...with real instruments, not drum machines and computers and synthesizers. Some of my favorite music groups are (in no specific order) Metallica, Megadeth, Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Pride & Glory, etc), Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Anthrax, Sevendust, The Smashing Pumpkins, Chris Cornell (Audioslave, Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog etc.), Raging Slab, Alice In Chains, AC/DC, Pantera, Elton John, Fiona Apple, Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age, etc. These musical groups and performers have shaped my life greatly in the few years I have been on this earth. I listen to music more than doing anything else these days. I know that my life is going to continually be directly effected by music, and all aspects of it. I have not completely decided what I want to do with my life, but I have one major goal.
My goal in life is to become a recording engineer/record producer. I have already recorded several local musical projects, as well as helped mix several people I have met online's stuff as well, so thinking of it as a future career is not unrealistic. I will need some training for this, although I already know a lot about it. There is a school in Chillicothe, Ohio called the Recording Workshop that teaches everything about recording, but I have heard recordings made by students in that school, and some of my recordings already sound better than anything I have heard from that place. I will most likely go there after I save up the money, because I am sure there are some basic things I will learn that could greatly improve the results of recordings that I make. I am hoping by learning a lot of this through first hand experience, and maybe going to The Recording Workshop, I will be able to work in a major recording studio and produce albums for some well established acts. It would be great if I could make a lot of money and become a very well known producer, but that is not my motivation. I love music, and I love to record, so even if I don't make a lot of money, I would still continue to produce records, just because that is what I would love to do-- get good music out to the masses.
I can look in the mirror and say that I want to have fun with my life. I want to have as much fun as possible in my lifetime and not feel like a failure. I want to do everything that I can possibly do because experiences make up life. The main thing that I want from life is happiness. I plan to live a long, happy, and fun life, and hopefully nothing will stand in my way.
